Founded in 2015, Black Girls Do Nails was created with the intention to empower and uplift communities of color by connecting them with talented nail technicians who understand and celebrate their unique culture. In 2016, we launched our Nail Salon Directory to make it easier to find and book services with skilled professionals who share our commitment to diversity and excellence.
Our mission is rooted in the need for greater representation in the nail salon industry. A collaborative study conducted in November 2018 by The UCLA Labor Center, in partnership with the California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative, highlighted a significant disparity: in 2019, only 2% of the nail salon workforce in the U.S. were African American. This study gives emphasis to the importance of our work promoting and supporting nail techs of color.
With over 175,000 followers across various social media platforms, Black Girls Do Nails has grown into more than just a brand—it’s a movement. We believe in the power of representation and the importance of supporting businesses within our communities. Our platform not only helps you discover some of the best nail techs in the industry, but also celebrates their skills, professionalism, and talent. From salon owners, to educators, to editorial beauty professionals, Black Girls Do Nails believes it is important to share the accomplishments of the nail technicians within their community.
Over the years, Black Girls Do Nails has worked to become a trusted resource for consumers that enjoy top quality nail services. Our social media friends often share news about Black Girls Do Nails in comments and website threads.
